Privacy Policy

Optimystic is designed to keep visual acuity screening information on your devices.

We do not operate an account service, analytics service, advertising service, cloud database, or other server that receives your screening records.

Information you enter

Optimystic may let you enter a patient identifier and records visual acuity responses and results. This information is stored in the app's local sandbox on your device. It is not uploaded to us.

You can delete individual saved sessions from History. Removing the app also removes its locally stored app data, subject to Apple's device backup and restore behavior.

Nearby-device and Apple Watch communication

If you choose Controller or Display mode, Optimystic sends the information needed to run the current test between Apple devices you connect nearby. This may include the patient identifier, selected eye, viewing distance, optotype, test state, and result. The connection uses Apple's encrypted Multipeer Connectivity framework and does not use a developer-operated server.

If you use the Apple Watch companion, test commands and status move between your paired iPhone and Apple Watch through Apple's WatchConnectivity framework.

PDF export

Optimystic can create a temporary PDF report on your device. The report is shared only when you choose an action or destination in Apple's share sheet. The privacy practices of the destination you select apply after you share the file.

External links

The app includes optional tutorial links to YouTube. YouTube may receive information under its own privacy policy when you choose to open a link. Optimystic does not include your patient identifier or test result in these links.

Data collection, tracking, and advertising

We do not collect data from Optimystic, track you across apps or websites, sell personal information, or show advertising. The app does not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

Children

Optimystic is a screening aid intended to be operated or supervised by an adult. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children because the app does not transmit screening information to us.

Medical notice

Optimystic does not diagnose or treat disease and does not replace a comprehensive examination or professional clinical judgment. Consult a licensed eye-care professional before making medical decisions.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. Material changes should be published before an app update that changes how information is handled.
